LIBRARY TABLE from Wethersfield Connecticut, one of the earliest towns founded. Found ~ 1970s in a Wethersfield
caretakers cottage, painted black. 4 turnip feet, 7 fluted colums seated on a carved I-frame. Top skirt carved with ivy,
each center panel an oval medalion with full relief man's head. Corner with full relief ram's head above a drop finial. 1
Drawer with center medalion and man's head for a knob. Inlay on table top. Restored by Bartolluci of Waterbury. Plate glass
added to protect top. Storage condition. 52"x27"x33".
Original owners unknown. Speculation: Because the carving is on all four surfaces, we expect the original placement was
in the center of a room. The Narrow width and I-frame base suggests the table was meant to be used from one side (and/or opposite
side) in a library setting.
